A Critical Analysis of the Film Sankofa
Introduction This film by Haile Gerima fuses concepts of time and space in order to transport the protagonist, Mona, and the viewers through the terrible torment that was the Maafa, the African Holocaust. Sankofa, an Akan symbol, means that to understand the present and "move forward" one must reclaim the past.
The task of this research paper is to analyze how the literary techniques were used in some particular film. This task is going to show how good we have learned these techniques and whether we can apply them to practice.
